RI CONTRACT NO. 2013DF084 – NEWPORT CLIFF WALK - SUPERSTORM SANDY REPAIRS

Overview: Newport’s Cliff Walk is Rhode Island’s most popular tourist attraction. The 3.5 mile scenic ocean walkway draws locals and tourists from across the country and around the world. Ravaged and rendered impassable by Superstorm Sandy in October of 2012, the popular destination was closed to tourists, hikers and joggers for more than a year. John Rocchio Corporation was awarded a contract to conduct repairs to damaged features and to fortify and strengthen existing features.

Work:  The work consisted of the restoration and repair of masonry walls, steps and concrete walks; reinforcement of concrete seawalls and structures; building new concrete walls and wall caps; placement of armor stone and rip rap shore protection and the removal and replacement of wrought iron railing.
