Relocation of Main Avenue, T.F. Green Airport | Warwick, RI

RIAC CONTRACT NO. 25788 – RELOCATION OF MAIN AVENUE, T.F. GREEN AIRPORT

Owner: Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC)

Overview: Strategically located in the center of New England, T.F. Green Airport affords travelers ample parking, easy access, convenient scheduling and substantially less congestion than its main competitor, Logan International. The airport has long been considered an integral piece of Rhode Island’s economic stability. With the popularity of the airport growing, RIAC embarked on a runway extension program to allow the facility to handle larger aircraft. However, the existing main runway, bound by Airport Road to the north and Main Avenue to the south, could not be extended without one or more roads being relocated. After years of feasibility studies and public hearings, it was determined that Main Avenue would be relocated approximately 600’ south of its existing location to allow for runway expansion. John Rocchio Corporation was awarded the contract to relocate Main Avenue.

Work: The work consists of the realignment of 3300 l.f. of roadway, construction of a new drainage system, water line, traffic signals, sidewalks, and full depth pavement structure.

Cost At Completion: $6,635,375
